I, Martijn Albert Cornel Snels, am a creative innovator living in The Netherlands. In my daily life I’m the Creative Director and founder of mac, a small full service marketing and communication agency who’s delivering services to small and middle large brands like Patisserie de Rouw and Simon Tennisschool and governmental organizations such as the Province North-Brabant and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. Next to this I’m also the cofounder and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of the startup recens. Inside this company I’m held responsable for concept and new business development and the coordination of the marketing and communication of the brand. Together with my father (Vincent Snels) I’m running this startup where we’re trying to achieve a more open, sustainable and healthy society by creating new ways for brands to communicate with customers and sell their products on different ways.
In my early years I achieved my Graphic Media Designer degree at SintLucas. Before I completed my education I’ve been working at the graphic design studio Beesign for two years during vacations and Interbrand at the Amsterdam office where I worked as a Junior Designer on clients like Opel, AkzoNobel, Atos Consulting, Ceva Logistics, Heineken, HDI, KBC Bank, Staatsbosbeheer and Royal DSM. After working at and for both small and big companies I decided to continue my career in self-employment. This was the beginning of me as an entrepreneur. After four years I also became serial entrepreneur with the start of my latest startup.
After some tests during my primary school period dyslexia was discovered. With systematic help from my parents and a great local remedial teacher I learned to deal with my problems. During my education I also learned dyslexia helped me in my life. It’s a fact that people with dyslexia are more creative and I’m sure this is applies my life as well. The other side of dyslexia is that blogging in my second language is a bit more difficult than blogging in my mother language (Dutch).
